The invention relates to a valve for the manual and automatic operation of a fire extinguisher of the type that comprises a container into which a fire extinguisher agent and a propellant gas are introduced. According to the invention, the valve body is coupled to the container by means of a threaded neck (7) having a probe tube (5) threaded internally therein. In addition, the valve body is equipped internally with a manually-actuated pressure closure mechanism (4) and comprises an automatic trigger mechanism which operates in accordance with pre-determined temperature or pressure values that indicate the presence of a fire and which is communicated with the zone provided between the probe tube (5) and the pressure closure element (4).
