<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems in a conventional air conditioner wherein, since an air discharged from an upper part blowout port side is not allowed to pass the entire part of a heat exchanger and an air discharged from a lower part blowout port side is not allowed to pass the entire part of the heat exchanger, a temperature distribution in a room is increased depending on the operating state of an air conditioner. <P>SOLUTION: In this air conditioner, a movable partition plate arbitrarily movable in the vertical direction and partitioning the air passages of cross-flow fans installed on upper and lower sides between the heat exchanger and the rear face of a chassis is installed inside a casing. The areas allowing the air discharged from the upper blowout port and the air discharged from the lower blowout port to be passed therethrough can be freely changed.
