<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting diode capable of narrowing a radiation range according to a lateral shape of an optical waveguide provided in various kinds of thinned and enlarged display panels or the like, reducing power consumption, and improving luminous efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: The light emitting diode 21 includes a circuit board 28 having an electrode pattern formed, a light emitting element 22 mounted on the circuit board 28, and a frame 23 surrounding the element 22.
