PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder which has a regenerating system that performs collection and regeneration of a waste liquid by using a liquid that includes an ionic liquid as a solvent component and by a simple constitution efficiently, and to provide a method for regenerating the liquid which includes the ionic liquid as the solvent component. SOLUTION: The liquid which includes the ionic liquid as a solvent is collected by a maintenance unit 14 from a recording head 3 or the like which applies the liquid to a recording medium.
