PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily and highly precisely detecting Pb and/or Cu in Zn-based compounds which can contain Pb and/or Cu as impurities without having to use hazardous reagents. SOLUTION: An aqueous solution of a water-soluble compound containing Zn to be an analyte is first prepared. Then after a Zn-carnosine complex is deposited by adjusting the pH of the aqueous solution between 6-10 under the presence of carnosine, a deposit and a water phase are separated from each other. The concentration of Pb ions or the concentration of Cu ions in a separated liquid phase is measured by colorimetric analysis. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
