PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inorganic oxide periodic structure which has pores arranged at a uniform three-dimensional period and a strong structure excellent in the structure stability and chemical durability; and a simple method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The inorganic oxide periodic structure is characterized in that pores having pore diameters within a range of 20 nm to 10μm are arranged at a three-dimensional period and the thicknesses of the inorganic oxide on a line connecting between the centers of adjacent pores are within a range of 5 nm to 10μm. The method for manufacturing the inorganic oxide periodic structure comprises a process for obtaining sol by dispersing core-shell particles each having an organic high molecular compound fine particle as core part and a crosslinked hydrophilic organic high molecular compound as shell part into an aqueous solvent; a process for obtaining a structure, in which the core parts are arranged at a three-dimensional period in a composite formed by the unification of the crosslinked hydrophilic organic high molecular compound and the formed inorganic oxide, by adding a metal-based alkoxide to the gel so as to conduct sol-gel reaction; and a process for obtaining the inorganic oxide periodic structure by firing the structure.
