PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for treating waste materials by using an oxyhydrogen gas, in each of which waste materials such as rubbish can be heat-treated by utilizing the heat of combustion of the hydrogen and oxygen obtained by electrolyzing water. SOLUTION: The apparatus 10 for treating waste materials by using the oxyhydrogen gas is provided with: an oxyhydrogen gas generating means 1 for generating the oxyhydrogen gas by electrolyzing water; a combustion furnace 2 for burning the oxyhydrogen gas; and a reaction furnace 4 where waste materials 3 are thrown. The oxyhydrogen gas generating means 1 is used for generating the oxyhydrogen gas by electrolyzing water. The exhaust heat obtained by burning the generated oxyhydrogen gas in the combustion furnace 2 is supplied to the reaction furnace 4. Meanwhile, the waste materials 3 thrown in the reaction furnace 4 are heat-treated by the exhaust heat obtained by burning the oxyhydrogen gas. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
