An opening and closing mechanism for vertically sliding windows which are set in the doors of a motor vehicle comprises, associated with each window, an electrical drive motor 3 mounted within the door of the vehicle and an endless wire drive rope 14 which is attached to a frame 13 on the lowermost part of the window and extends over a fixed pulley 10 and a pulley 11 attached to the motor drive shaft. A ring 15 mounted on the rope opens an upper limit switch 5 in the motor circuit via a forked arm 7 when the window is fully closed and the frame 13 opens a lower limit switch 6 in the motor circuit, via an arm 9 with a spring pivoted end section 18, when the window is fully open. Each window mechanism b, other than the mechanism a associated with the driver's position, is provided with a switch 22 for energizing its drive motor in either direction and four individual switches 23 are provided at the driver's position for operating the four window mechanisms. further switch 26, which when operated energizes each of the motors to close the windows, is operated by the locking mechanism of e.g. the driver's door of the vehicle.</p> |
