[Also in Division B6] An engraving and copying machine comprises a beam 40 carrying the tool 44 and tracer 42 or 52 and movable parallel to itself, the beam being supported on a slide 28 by at least two parallel swivel arms 32, 34 of equal length, and the slide being mounted in a guideway 30 parallel to the axis of the beam. The guideway is adjustable vertically on a column 10 which also carries a pivoted support 12 for a pantograph linkage 16, 18, 20, 22. A stop 38 prevents the beam 40 from being moved to a dead-centre position. The pantograph is connected to a cursor 50 on a rail 46 on the beam 40 which also carries pivoted arms 60, 58 to support the tracer 52. The pantograph movements are controlled by a handle. In a modification, a third swivel arm is provided. In a further modification, two pairs of swivel arms 32, 76, 34, 74, Fig. 4, are provided. |
