The device (1) has an adjusting knob (2) that is placed in contact with the outer hollow housing (5). Each of the knob and housing, has complementary stoppers (8) so that a stop position with an altered length is reached through the number and arrangement of the stoppers according to a predefined angle of rotation of the adjusting knob. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) distance extension method between clamping elements; and (2) extendible external fixator.
