A vehicle control switch assembly (10) for use with a printed circuit board (30) that includes a switch (19) having an elastomeric pad portion (34) and a first insert interface (32,38) attached to the pad (34). The assembly (10) also includes first and second electrical contacts (28a,28b), each contact (28a,28b) being selectively operable to actuate a vehicle function. The switch assembly (10) also includes a pivotable beam member (40) bridging a span between the first electrical contact (28a) and the second electrical contact (28b). Movement of the switch (19) in a first direction causes the first insert interface (32,38) to depress the beam member (40) thereby engaging the first electrical contact (28a) with the printed circuit board (30) to actuate the first electrical contact (28a). Further movement of the switch (19) in the first direction causes the first insert interface (32,38) to slide along the beam member (40) in a second direction to further depress the first beam member (40) thereby actuating the first electrical contact (28a) and the second electrical contact (28b). |
