Symbol synchronisation in a multicarrier receiver

An apparatus and a method for synchronizing symbols in an OFDM receiver are disclosed. The apparatus includes a signal magnitude calculator; a first delay unit; a first subtractor, for obtaining the difference between the signal delayed by the first delay unit and the input complex signal; an absolute value calculator; a second delay unit; a second subtractor, for obtaining the difference between the signals respectively received from the second delay unit and the absolute value calculator; a moving window sum unit; a searching unit; and a guard interval removing unit.
