The acoustic device includes a panel having distribution of resonant modes of bending wave action determining acoustic performance in conjunction with transducer coupled to the panel. The transducer is located at a marginal position of the panel. The arrangement is such as to result in acoustically acceptable action dependent on the distribution of active the resonant modes.
