Extrusion and injection moulding machines are cleaned after use for processing thermoplastic macromolecular materials at a raised temperature, by passing through them a cleaning compound comprising a cross-linked polyolefine while the machines are still hot, stripping the machines and removing the adherent coating of cleaning compound while it is above its softening point. The compound may consist of crosslinked polyethylene, polypropylene, or a copolymer of ethylene and propylene.
