Monolithic ADSL analogue front end

A monolithic ADSL analogue front end (500) implements mixed signal technology, in which synthesized impedance techniques are employed. The synthesized impedance techniques substantially reduce the transmitter line driver (506) gain, and receiver amplifier (508) gain such that the analogue transmitter and receiver filters (502,504) can be implemented in the high-voltage process. Since the signal gains of the transmitter line driver (506) and receiver amplifier (508) are reduced, and since the analogue filters (502,504) are implemented in the high-voltage process, they can be physically reduced in size, to accommodate a higher noise floor, which reduces the die area and power dissipation requirements associated with the hybrid (500).
