Method and device for controlling a braking system

The method involves holding a braking force at a wheel of a vehicle independent of the operation of a brake pedal and reduced the braking force. Circuits of a diagonal brake system are controlled independent of each other. The reduction of the braking force with a hill holder function of the vehicle takes place in two steps, where the steps of reduction of the force corresponds in the circuits of the diagonal brake system. An independent claim is also included for a device for controlling a brake system of a vehicle.
