<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transfer a monitoring control signal light without exerting influence on main signal, while sufficiently ensuring the amount of information which can be transferred on the same route as that of the main signal and is necessary for monitoring control. <P>SOLUTION: In this transfer method of a monitoring control signal, the monitoring control signal light which carries monitoring control information is generated. The wavelength of the signal light is in the gain bandwidth of an optical amplifier, arranged in an optical transmission line and is different from the wavelength of the main signal light. The information is used for monitoring or controlling the optical transmission line or a network containing the transmission line. The monitoring control signal light which is transmitted in a burst type with a prescribed time length, and time interval is subjected to wavelength multiplexing with the main signal light, and transferred in the optical transmission line. The time length of the monitoring control signal light is set to be shorter than the gain saturation time of the transient response of the optical amplifier. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
