The proposed method for generating torque by a magnetic system with permanent magnets consists in displacing the permanent magnets, which have opposite magnetic polarities, within a gap until the state of the stable equilibrium of repulsive or attractive forces between the magnets is achieved. The method is distinctive by that the number of the poles of the magnetic system is determined as 2?2n or 3?2n, where n is an integer, determining the stable and unstable states of the magnetic system, andproviding the displacement of the permanent magnets in order to achieve the stable state of the system.
