A drive of round-knitting machine has electric motor, V-belt transmission, with its driving pulley connected to the shaft of the electric motor, and toothed gearing with its driving pinion installed on the intermediate shaft coaxially with respect tothe driven pulley of the V-belt transmission. The gear wheel is installed on the vertical drive shaft at the ends of which cylindrical pinions are rigidly fixed. Additionally the appliance is equipped with flat spiral spring with its inner end rigidly connected to the shaft of the electric motor, and the outer end is rigidly connected to the driving pulley of the V-belt transmission, and two brakes, one of those is installed on the driving pulley, and the other one - on the shaft of the electric motor at the end opposite to the driving pulley.
