A method of fixing axial flow turbine or compressor rotor blades in a profiled circumferential groove comprises positioning packing pieces in a gap between the blade roots and a side wall of the groove and, after the last blade has been inserted, repositioning the packing pieces so as to be substantially equally distributed in the groove. The root of a blade 3 is retained radially by a packing piece 4 in a circumferential groove 2 in the rotor 1. Blades 3 and packing pieces 4 are inserted alternatively into the groove 2 and pressed together, Fig. 2. The last blade is then inserted and the packing pieces 4 distributed equally over the periphery by displacement in the groove 2, Fig. 3, the pieces 4 being secured against tangentail displacement by tongues 6 formed by means of punch blows on the lip 8 of an annular channel 7. |
