The bending of rectilinear sections using a bending head with fixed translation and displacement of the section by a flexible prehensile system, notably applicable for piping systems

A rectilinear section is bent using a bending head (1) fixed in translation and some prehensile components (23 - 25) carried by head and adapted to displace these components in all directions and orientations in the space around the bending head. Further successive bending operations are carried out in an ordinary bending order by effecting for each bending operation, the gripping of the section and its displacement in the bending space following its introduction in the fixed bending head, and finally the bending of the section to be bent. An independent claim is also included for a bending unit for rectilinear sections to produce a bent profile with rectilinear sections connected by curved sections.
