A heat exchanger is provided to supply heat exchange medium to a certain or all tubes by the operation of a medium control element while controlling an amount of the medium properly, so that heat exchange capacity is simply controllable according to cooling/heating loads. A heat exchanger includes tubes of which both ends are fixed to upper and lower headers(101,103). A medium distribution element(110) is mounted to the upper header for supplying a heat exchanger medium to a certain one of the tubes. An upper tank(115) is mounted at an upper part of the medium distribution element, and formed with medium supply/recovery tubes(120/125) at both sides and distribution paths inside for supplying the heat exchange medium to a certain portion of the medium distribution element. A medium control element(130) is mounted to the upper tank to be driven by a control signal. A lower tank(135) is coupled with the lower header to be communicated to ends of the tubes, and connected to the upper tank via a return pipe(140). |
