The method involves mounting a tool on a fin (1000) containing liquid, and moving a perforation rod (30) that cooperates with a spacer (7) of the tool to perforate a fin wall. A sample of the liquid is recovered by a pipe coupled to the spacer. The fin walls are tightened against each other between the spacer and a nut (8) of the tool using the rod. The pipe assembly is closed by a closure and the tool is removed from the fin. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a tool for removing a liquid from a transformer with fins (2) an assembly apt to cooperate with a tool for removing a liquid from a transformer with fins.
