PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a packaging material which can prevent a gas barrier composite film layer of a film with gas barrier properties from being deteriorated, as a result, can prevent a vapor deposition thin film layer of an inorganic oxide from being deteriorated, and can continuously keep original gas barrier properties even if hot water acts thereon during use. SOLUTION: The gas barrier film is prepared by laminating at least the vapor deposition thin film layer consisting of the inorganic oxide, and the gas barrier composite film layer prepared by heat-drying a thin film of a coating solution in which an aqueous solution or a water/alcohol mixed solution containing a water-soluble polymer and at least one metal alkoxide or its hydrolyzate is a main agent, on a plastic substrate. On the gas barrier film, a substrate film and a heat-sealable resin layer are respectively laminated on the gas barrier composite film layer positioned on one face and on the plastic substrate positioned on the other face.
