PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-layer welding structure of a stainless steel capable of performing the multi-layer welding from the initial layer back-bead welding of a groove bottom part to the final layer welding of a groove upper face part on a groove joint of a thick plate, and changing the tensile stress residual in a weld portion on a back face side after completion of welding to the compressive stress. SOLUTION: In the multi-layer welding structure of a stainless steel in which joint members 1, 2 with an end of the stainless steel grooved butted to each other, a welding wire is melted to form a multi-layer welded portion by the pulse arc welding or the DC arc welding of the consumable electrode type or a non-consumable electrode type, and the joint members are welded to each other, an austenitic welding wire is melted and solidified to the height of 1/5 to 4/5 of the thickness of the joint member from the back side of the groove to form an initial back-bead weld part, a martensitic welding wire is melted and solidified to an upper face of the groove to provide compressive stresses in a weld part on the groove back face side and in a vicinity thereof.
