PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL which hardly has problems such as dirt etc. SOLUTION: The organic EL apparatus comprises a plurality of light emitting units 22a to 22d stacked between a positive electrode 14 and a negative electrode 28, and charge generating layers 30 put between the light emitting units 22a to 22d. Each of the charge generating layers 30 comprises a first layer 31 made of a magnesium simple substance on the positive electrode 14 side and a second layer 32 made of a vanadium pentoxide.
