PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide dry transfer paper affording fine-printed pattern expression, extraordinarily uniform dyeability and soft fiber touch each having been considered to be difficult to accomplish by conventionally known wet printing techniques, and to provide a printing method using the transfer paper. SOLUTION: The transfer paper is provided, which is made by the following process: Paper or resin film is provided with a releasant layer, and as an ink-receiving layer 1, a hydrophilic synthetic resin is applied to the releasant layer and dried, wherein the hydrophilic synthetic resin is softenable or meltable under heating and releasable at the boundary with the releasant layer, and also, as an ink-receiving layer 2, a hydrophilic sizing agent for enhancing uniform dye adhesion is applied to the ink-receiving layer 1 and dried, and then a water-soluble dye is applied to the ink-receiving layer 2 by a means such as ink-jet printing. A textile fiber material is also provided, which is obtained by the following process: The above transfer paper is laminated on a natural fiber-based fabric followed by heating/pressing to transfer the dye onto the fabric followed by making a treatment of firmly fixing the dye to effect printing with fineness/fastness and good touch feeling.
