PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable cutting insert, a milling cutter tool and a cutting method using this cutting insert, capable of high accurate processing, without damaging a cutting edge, by restraining chattering vibration when starting the processing. SOLUTION: This cutting insert 1 is used by being detachably installed on the outer peripheral side of a tip part in a cutter body 5 of the milling cutter tool, and forms the cutting edges 4 and 14 in a crossing ridgeline of a rake surface 2 and flanks 3 and 13. The first flank 6 is formed along an outer peripheral cutting edge 14 positioned on the outer peripheral side of the cutter body 5 in a state of installing the cutting insert 1 in the cutter body 5, and the second flank 7 is adjacently formed under the first flank 6. A clearance angleαof the first flank 6 to a tangent L of a processing locus by the outer peripheral cutting edge 14, is set at an angle for allowing the substantially whole surface of the first flank 6 to abut on a machinable material.
