PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wheel bearing device having improved assembling accuracy and hermetical performance while achieving more efficient assembling work for a seal on an inboard side in a fourth generation structure, and to provide its assembling method. SOLUTION: The wheel bearing device in the fourth generation structure has a hub wheel 1 and an outside joint member 14 plastically joined to each other. It comprises the inboard side seal 11 internally fitted to an outward member 4, a seal ring 23 consisting of a core metal 21 formed in approximately L-shaped cross section and a seal member 22 vulcanized and adhered to the core metal 21 and having a side lip 22a, and a slinger 24 consisting of a cylinder portion 24a opposed to the seal ring 23 and externally fitted to a shoulder portion 19 of the outside joint member 14 and a rising plate portion 24b extending from the cylinder portion 24a to the radially outward direction, and formed in approximately L-shaped cross section. On the base of the cylinder portion 24a of the slinger 24, a guide portion such as a chamfer 26 is provided for preventing deformation and fixation during press-in. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
