The method involves dropping a check sum testing of a data of a block negatively and performing the testing for a further block. The data of the further block is selected for implementing the safety-relevant function, during successful check sum testing of that data, and the process is repeated until no blocks are present. The data of the last block is dropped negatively, and an errors message is generated. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a computer program product with a program code for memory management of safety-relevant data (2) a controller which is provided with the data for a safety-relevant function (3) a data carrier or a computer system storing a data structure.
