FIELD: producing ions in manufacturing equipment. ^ SUBSTANCE: proposed method for producing positive ion current of electricity conducting materials includes voltage application between solid state emitter and electrode-extractor, its magnitude being sufficient for explosive ion emission; electric current passage through arbitrary-shape emitter; installation of additional electrode-extractor on end opposite to main one; and application of positive potential across additional emitter. ^ EFFECT: reduced accelerating threshold voltages, enhanced emitter life due to preventing its high-speed wear and affording electron gas deficiency therein. ^ 1 cl, 2 tbl
