<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect an accurate steering angle by inexpensive constitution without using any mechanical component. <P>SOLUTION: This detector detects magnetic force generated from a magnetized tire of a steering wheel, measures preliminarily a characteristic of the detected magnetic force with respect to the steering angle of the steering wheel to store a steering angle-magnetic force characteristic, estimates the propriety of a rectilinear travel condition in a vehicle, uses the magnetic force detected when the vehicle is estimated to be under the rectilinear travel condition, as the magnetic force in neutral steering, corrects the steering angle-magnetic force characteristic, based on the the magnetic force in neutral steering, and determines the steering angle corresponding to the detected magnetic force, based on the corrected steering angle-magnetic force characteristic. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
