PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for preheating an immersion nozzle for continuous casting, by which device and method, the immersion nozzle can be efficiently and uniformly heated. SOLUTION: The immersion nozzle 11 is used to pour molten steel from a tundish of a continuous casting machine into a casting mold. Before the immersion nozzle 11 is arranged on the tundish, the immersion nozzle 11 is preheated beforehand. The immersion nozzle 11 is inserted into an induction coil 22 having an inside diameter larger than the outside diameter of the immersion nozzle 11 except its upper end portion. When the immersion nozzle 11 is induction-heated by the induction coil 22, the immersion nozzle 11 is heated up to a prescribed temperature while relatively moving the immersion nozzle 11 or the induction coil 22 up and down.
