PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact filter element maintaining the flow rate of a fluid passing through a filter medium and suppressing the pressure loss as much as possible. SOLUTION: The filter element is equipped with the filter medium 30 folded into crest parts 30a and valley parts 30b arranged alternately, and a frame 21 for holding the medium. The frame 21 comprises a frame main body 22 constituting the periphery thereof, and a plurality of ribs 23 extending in parallel inside thereof. The space H between the ribs 23 is formed within the range of 5 to 35 mm, and the filter medium 30 is folded at the crest part 30a and the valley 30b, at an angleθof at least 4 degrees.
