<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an input device that reduces load by detecting the position of a moving body by means of changes in quantity of light, and using the detection as input instruction signals. <P>SOLUTION: The input device, which provides instruction inputs by detecting the position of a moving body 140 moving along a predetermined plane, includes first detection means 11-1, 12-1, 13-1 for detecting the movement of the moving body in a first direction X, and second detection means 11-2, 12-2, 13-2 for detecting the position of the moving body in a second direction Y perpendicular to the first direction.
