<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image decoder for carrying out proper error correction in accordance with error occurrence causes to thereby minimize a degradation in the image quality due to the error. <P>SOLUTION: The image decoder decodes a code bit string resulting from coding blocks each composed of M×N sets of image data, wherein a count means 12 counts the number of data decoded by a decoding means 11, when the counted value is M×N or below and a code denoting a block border is detected, decode processing applied to a succeeding block is started in the case that the M×N-th decoding processing is finished, when the code denoting the block border is not detected even if the counted value reaches M×(N+1), the decoding processing is continued as it is, it is judged that the data up to the M×N-th data after decoding are valid data and the data of the M×(N+1)-th or over are invalid data, and only the valid data are outputted. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
