<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material that has substantially no hole implantation barrier with respect to various electrodes and has a high heat-resisting property in addition to the property, and to provide a luminescent element and a luminescent device with a low driving voltage by using such a composite material. <P>SOLUTION: The composite material is manufactured that contains an organic compound and an inorganic compound, and constitutes a thin film which has a current-voltage characteristic following the following expression (1) when measured while being sandwiched by electrodes having a work function of 3.5 to 5.5 eV. In addition, the luminescent element and luminescent device are manufactured using the same.
