PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adhesive composition for optical members having good coating property because of small viscosity and capable of forming an adhesive layer excellent in endurance and having high surface uniformity and to provide an adhesive layer for optical members formed by the adhesive composition for optical members and further to provide an adhesion type optical member having the adhesive layer and an image display device using the adhesion type optical member. SOLUTION: The adhesive composition for optical members comprises a (meth)acrylic polymer, a 6-9C hydrocarbon-based solvent (A) and high-boiling point and high-solubility solvent (B) having a boiling point higher than that of the hydrocarbon-based solvent (A) and having higher solubility to the (meth)acrylic polymer than that of the hydrocarbon-based solvent. In the adhesive composition, the content of the hydrocarbon-based solvent (A) is 20-60 wt.% based on total organic solvent and ähigh-boiling point and highly soluble solvent (B)/hydrocarbon-based solvent (A)} which is a ratio of the content (wt.%) of the hydrocarbon-based solvent to the content (wt.%) of the high-boiling point and highly soluble solvent (B) is 0.05-4.
