COPOLYMER LATEX, METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME AND COMPOSITION FOR COATING PAPER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a copolymer latex used as a binder of a composition for coating paper and affording the resultant coated paper exhibiting an excellent printing gloss. SOLUTION: The copolymer latex comprises a copolymer having a structural unit derived from a conjugated diene monomer and a structural unit derived from an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer. When the contact angle is measured by a prescribed method for measuring the contact angle, the rate of change from the contact angle after 0 sec. to the contact angle after 4 sec. relatively to the contact angle after 0 sec. is≥20%. The rate of change from the contact angle after 4 sec. to the contact angle after 10 sec. relatively to the contact angle after 4 sec. is <20%. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
