A bookcase or any other shelving system can be fitted with several boards (100) of any suitable rigid material depending on the environment it is to be used in. A unique impression can be created by using granite shelves (100) which unfortunately are subject to easy breaking when made in a very flat shape. The new design of a granite board (100) is provided with grooves (150) along the outer edges of its longer sides (114,124) suitable for the insertion of the central segment of a T-shaped edging (200) made of steel or aluminum.
