<p>A wood preservative comprises a fatty acid or alcohol containing 12-20 carbon atoms, a salt of copper, zinc, nickel, cadmium or cobalt with a chlorophenol containing 3-5 chlorine atoms, nitrophenol, salycylic acid or benzoic acid, and a volatile organic diluent. The fatty acid may be oleic or linoleic acid or tall oil. The diluent may be petroleum ether, varnolene or trichlorethylene. The preservative may also contain paraffin oil or wax.</p> |
