PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic probe capable of improving the reception sensitivity of ultrasonic waves. SOLUTION: A cap 30 at the distal end of the ultrasonic probe 11 is in a multilayer structure for which a plurality of layers L<SB>1</SB>-L<SB>N</SB>are formed from the inner side facing an ultrasonic transducer 31 to the outer side facing a living body. The cap 30 is formed so that the difference of the acoustic impedances of the layer L<SB>1</SB>on the most inner side and an ultrasonic transmission medium 34 and the difference of the acoustic impedances of the layer on the outer side and the layer on the inner side adjacent to each other are smaller than the difference of the acoustic impedances of the layer L<SB>N</SB>on the most outer side and the ultrasonic transmission medium 34. The difference of the acoustic impedances between the ultrasonic transmission medium 34 and the cap 30 is reduced and the reception sensitivity of the ultrasonic waves is improved.
