The reinforcement process, e.g. for beams (10) containing tubular channels (11) involves the use of carbon fiber plastic rods (12), with a layer of resin-impregnated fiber hose fabric (14) fitted between the rod and the surrounding material. This allows for varying degrees of the thermal expansion of the materials.
