PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve cell performance by equalizing the flow rate distribution of an oxidizer gas and a fuel gas supplied to a gas passage groove formed of a plurality of grooves in a polymer electrolyte fuel cell, and to prevent the erroreous combination of conductive separator plates when assembling the polymer electrolyte fuel cell.
SOLUTION: The solid polymer fuel cell is formed by laminating a plurality of unit cells each of which comprises an MEA where a pair of electrodes including catalyst layers are arranged on both sides of a proton exchange membrane, respectively, and a plurality of conductive separator plates 11 which sandwich the MEA. The size of a manifold hole for a fuel gas 16 and a manifold hole for an oxidizer gas 14 is continuously reduced from near positions X, Y in which the fuel gas and the oxidizer gas flow, to near positions which communicate with an anode-side gas passage groove 13 and a cathode-side passage groove 12, respectively. As a result, each gas can be uniformly distributed into the anode-side gas passage groove 13 and the cathode-side passage groove 12, and thus the higher efficiency of cell performance can be achieved.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
