<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect accurate quantity of light even during high-speed shutter operation in the case of pre-emission. <P>SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus has a plurality of pixels arranged in a matrix-like layout and containing photoelectric conversion devices, reads signals in units of one line or a plurality of lines and is provided with a solid-state imaging device 14 adapted to read a signal from a given block area. In the case of pre-emission, a value of the number of read horizontal pixels, a driving frequency, a horizontal blanking period or the number of read vertical pixels is changed, for example, so that a signal readout scheme of the solid-state imaging device 14 from a predetermined block area can be switched to a pre-emission readout mode that, within an accumulation time determined by a shutter speed, a line to be read out first and a line to be read out finally temporally overlap with each other. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
