PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk device capable of performing a stable reproduction processing by specifying an optimum DMA even when a part or all of DMA managers can not be read due to a flaw or dirt of a disk. SOLUTION: The disk device includes: a read section for reading a disk and outputting a read signal, the disk including a rewritable area, a plurality of defect management areas, and a plurality of positional information areas for indicating a position optimally used for reproduction in a plurality of the defect management areas; a reproduction section for reproducing information stored in the rewritable area in response to a read signal of the read section on the basis of the given defect management information; and a control section for selecting newest positional information in a plurality of the positional information items when all of the positional information items cannot be read as a result of reading the positional information items stored in the positional information areas and controlling the reproduction section to carry out reproduction processing on the basis of one of the defect management information items designated by the newest positional information.
