When a new service has become obtainable with a communication partner terminal, selection of this service is promptly presented to a user. A communication terminal (100) can use a communication service using a peripheral device existing within a communication range between the communication terminal (100) and a partner terminal connected via a network. The communication terminal (100) includes an entire control unit (104) having ability information modification report means for reporting occurrence of modification of a peripheral device within the communication range to the partner terminal and service candidate decision means for deciding a communication service which can be used between the communication terminal (100) and the partner terminal if modification of a peripheral device has occurred.
