<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress luminance distribution and chromaticity distribution of a light source and to achieve a liquid crystal display device using the light source having high quality. <P>SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display device constituted of a white light source provided with a blue fluorescent material having a blue based emission light color, a green fluorescent material having a green based emission light color and a red fluorescent material having a red based emission light color and a liquid crystal element having color filters controlling the transmission amount of light from the white light source and transmitting any light of blue, green and red, the red fluorescent material represented by a composition formula (Y<SB>1-x-y</SB>, Gd<SB>x</SB>, Eu<SB>y</SB>)<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>is utilized. Conditions of 0.45≤x≤0.85 and 0.025≤y≤0.040 are preferably satisfied. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
