A filter bag (3.1), which may have a head plate fixing (7), or an internal support cage, is cleaned by a rotating spray-head (13.2) which discharges a fluid, e.g. air or liquid, on to the bag and moves up and down parallel to the bag axis, causing a travelling pressure bulge on the bag surface. The cleaning head may be positioned inside a bag or at the center of a group of bags. -
