摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell which can reduce its size and thickness, capable of properly conducting fuel and air flow, and obtaining a high output that matches the physical area of an electrode related to power generation. <P>SOLUTION: An electrolytic film 1 like a solid polymeric material is formed into a wave-shaped plate body with crest folds and trough folds running in parallel, and a film electrode body 8 is formed by arranging a catalyst layer, a diffusion layer, a current collector and the like, on the front side and the back side of the wave shaped plate body. The film electrode body 8 is housed in a square-shaped cylinder 5, and a lid plate 8 and a bottom plate 7 are fixed to both ends thereof. In the square-shaped cylinder 5, since the vertex part at front and back side of the film electrode body 8 contacts the inner faces respectively, spaces 28, 38 are formed between the inner faces facing each other at valley fold side; and since they are separated into front side and back side and correspond to a fuel electrode 2 and an air electrode 3, the fuel electrode 2 side is turned into a fuel flow passage, and air electrode 3 side is turned into an air flow passage.
